I hope everyone is doing well and your dancers are enjoying their classes as we prepare for our recital titled Cheers to 30 Years. It’s a milestone! Our Alumni are invited to join in a big production tap dance choreographed by Miss Valerie. The venue for the rehearsal and shows will be at the City of Mount Dora Community Building located at 520 N. Baker St, Mount Dora, 32757. The rehearsal and recital dates are Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 5:00pm for tech/dress rehearsal; Friday, May 26, 2023 at 7:00pm and Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 2:00pm for the performances. Everyone is expected to be there all three days as each student will dance in both performances.
Recital packets will be handed out beginning Monday, Feb 27th during your students’ first classes of the week. If you do not receive a manilla envelope containing recital information by March 2nd, please notify the office as soon as possible. Please note the spelling of your dancer’s name on the front of the packet, this will be how it appears in the program and on the t-shirts. Let the office know as soon as possible if it is incorrect. These packets contain all the information pertaining to the recital. Please read through the entire packet and return the forms by the deadlines specified on each form. Note the main deadline is May 4th.
We at Leesburg Dance Centre love recital time and we hope dancers and their families will have a positive and enjoyable experience. We will kick-off our sale of recital tickets on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 10am-12pm. All seating is reserved. Tickets Aare $20 each. Tickets will also be available after the kick-off during normal office hours.
Please mark your calendars for costume week. Costume week will be held during classes May 1-4, 2023. We ask that a parent or guardian please be present at these classes for instruction on dressing rooms, costumes, hair, and makeup. It is important that you or someone you trust with information be present during costume week. Costumes will go home with your dancer provided all costumes and tuition are paid in full. The costume book is now available in the office for viewing.
Please check your email often, that is our main form of communicating important information! Also, please use our Parent Portal at https://www.compudance.com/Registration/StudentLogin.aspx?CKey=LDC2447. Your login is your email address on file. Your password is Dance#16(unless you previously signed in and changed it). In the My Setting page, under ‘Login Account’ section please verify your cell phone number. Make sure you enter in your cell provider; we would like to send out alerts via text message for class cancellations and unscheduled studio closings. This cannot be done without a provider (ie: AT&T, Verizon, etc.)
February 17-19, 2023…What a weekend! Our awesome competition team participated in the Groove Dance Competition at Ocoee High School, and they did a fantastic job representing Leesburg Dance Centre with their talent, poise, and grace. Parents you Rock, thank you for all you do. Their awards are as follows:
Congratulations Lily and Makenna for receiving an Elite Sapphire for your jazz duet in your first competition.
Emily’s solo, Kaylin and Emma’s duet, and the group number consisting of Kaylin Atkinson, Emma Isom, Makenna King, Lily Mauriell and Emily Sclafani, all received an Elite Sapphire award!!!
Kaylin and Emma each received a Diamond award for their solos. Kaylin also received a Judges award for beauty and grace.
Thank you Miss Brooke, Miss Caitlyn, and Miss Nicole for your time and energy with the team! They truly are dedicated to their art!!!
Next up for the team will be Shake the Ground the weekend of March 3rd and Earthshakers the weekend of April 14th. Leesburg Dance Centre will also attend the Tremaine Dance Convention the week of July 6th in Orlando. If your dancer is interested in attending, please contact Miss Valerie or Miss Brooke ASAP.
Miss Sally is currently choregraphing and rehearsing The Spongebob Musical at the Melon Patch Theatre. She is thrilled to have invited Miss Brooke and Miss Nicole to choreograph the dance which is all Hip Hop.
Summer dance camps and intensive classes dates to be announced soon.
Just a reminder, it is extremely important for all our dancers to attend class on a regular basis. If you are unable to attend class, please notify the studio or teacher by phone, text, or email.
The studio will be closed March 13-17th for Spring Break.
Fall registration will begin on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 4-7pm and continue Saturday, July 22nd from 10am – 1pm. Classes will begin on Monday, August 7, 2023.
